We are currently searching for a dynamic and proven Fleet Manager to join our Sureserve Compliance Central team.
Role Overview:
The fleet manager is responsible for overseeing & managing the company’s vehicle fleet and ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations. The role requires strategic planning, vehicle maintenance, compliance with transport legislation, and providing support to the operational team to meet set driver targets.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Compliance
Responsible for dealing with all aspects of fleet within the business, including dealing with Drivers, suppliers, Manufacturers, and Insurers.
Responsible for ensuring the vehicles are maintained in line with the manufactures recommendations and are legal for use on the public roads.
Ensure compliance with all government regulations and company policies related to transportation and vehicle operation.
Work with fleet leasing providers & manufacturers, including obtaining vehicle quotations, reviewing contracts, making contract amendments, and reviewing excess mileage.
Manage fleet renewals and returns, including organising the install / de-install of telematics, vehicle livery, racking, checking vehicle condition & documentation.
Review fleet invoices, prior to approval for payment.
Monitor vehicle condition, carry out regular checks on our fleet to ensure any damage is reported and repairs completed. Where appropriate issue damage charges to driver.
Manage vehicle incidents and complaints received, ensuring these are investigated, reported, and dealt with promptly, recovering any uninsured losses, providing emergency assistance where required.
Coordinate with other departments to meet their transportation needs and ensure seamless operations.
Lead, train, and develop fleet personnel, fostering a culture of safety and compliance.
Strategic
Support the broader, Group Fleet Management team to negotiate contracts with vendors for leasing or purchasing vehicles, equipment, and maintenance services.
Support the broader Group Fleet Management team to develop and implement a strategic plan to optimize fleet operations and reduce costs.
Prepare and manage the fleet budget, including forecasting expenses and analysing cost-saving opportunities.
Manage and review costs, including short term rentals & fuel costs, ensuring we are always using the most cost-effective suppliers where possible.
Systems & Reporting
Responsible for maintaining the fleet management database & telematic software, ensuring all records are kept up to date.
Monitor and analyse fleet performance using tracking systems to improve efficiency and safety.
Use our Fleet Management systems, be able to provide data, support and assistance to Directors.
Record and review all company vehicle drivers’ licences, including MOT & Insurance certificates for grey fleet drivers.
Review driver behaviour scores, and organise driver training for repeat offenders who are deemed at fault.
Manage the Motor Insurance Database (MID), ensuring that all our vehicles (including temporary vehicles) are updated and removed from the database regularly.
General
Attendance to internal or external company, supplier meetings / events.
Uphold confidentiality at all times.
Ensure compliance with all company standards, policies, and procedures.
To undertake any duties commensurate with the post.
Skills, experience & qualifications:
Experience of managing a Fleet of vehicles on a national / regional basis.
Experience of building positive relationships with key stakeholders to affect positive change.
Experience of demonstrable improvement in driver behaviors to minimise risk.
Experience of cost control improvements for day-to-day fleet operations.
At least 3 years’ experience in Fleet Management or relevant Fleet background
AFP certificate or equivalent
Proven experience in a managerial role within a similar sector.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
Commercial acumen with a strategic mindset.
Working hours are: Monday to Friday 8am till 5pm,
Whilst this role will be based from our Main Stowmarket branch, extensive travel across the East of England & MIdlands in works vehicles will be required.
