Head of Projects
HI Group is a specialist Managed Services Provider for Net Zero programmes. As part of the Sureserve family, we support clients in the Design, Build, Finance, and Operation of Low Carbon Transition Projects. Our services cover the entire lifecycle, from carbon baselining to post-project monitoring, ensuring the highest standards of sector governance in renewable energy solutions and sustainable project development.
As the Head of Projects, based in Nottingham, you will lead and manage HI Group’s renewable energy project delivery function across two core streams - Consultancy led projects and Developer led projects for HI Group-owned renewable energy assets.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team (Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, and Admin staff) to ensure safe, commercially robust programme-driven delivery. Your mission is to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with all regulatory requirements while supporting our strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Strategic Leadership
Lead the delivery function from development through construction and handover.
Ensure consistent delivery standards, governance, and reporting across the portfolio.
Drive programme certainty, cost control, and quality assurance.
Provide portfolio-level oversight of scheduling and resource allocation.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of delivery methodologies.
Team Leadership & Capability
Mentor and develop a high-performance team of Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors.
Establish clear roles, performance expectations, and a safety-led culture.
Build scalable delivery capability aligned with business growth.
Commercial, Contractual & Risk Oversight
Oversee contractual arrangements (EPC, O&M, and consultant agreements) using NEC or JCT standard forms.
Embed commercial controls, change management, and cost governance.
Work with finance teams to monitor budgets, variations, and risk exposure to protect margins.
Identify and manage technical, programme, and commercial risks with robust governance frameworks.
Stakeholder & Client Management
Act as the senior delivery lead for key client relationships and funding partners.
Support Business Development in project mobilisation and customer acquisition.
Collaborate internally with Engineering, Commercial, and Finance teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Demonstrable success in leading construction, renewable energy, or infrastructure project delivery.
Proven track record of managing multidisciplinary project teams.
Strong understanding of EPC contracting, commercial risk management, and cost control.
Experience in both client-side consultancy and developer-led projects is highly desirable.
Degree-qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (preferred).
: Professional accreditation (e.g., CIOB, RICS, APM, CEng) is desirable.
