Head of SHEQ
Role Purpose
The Head of Safety, Health Environmental and quality (SHEQ) will report to Sureserve Compliance Electrical Managing Director with functional alignment to Sureserve Group Head of Safety. The role will be responsible for providing professional SHEQ leadership within Sureserve Electrical and subsidiary business units including all levels of staff, supporting and advising Directors, Senior Management Teams, employees and, where applicable, contractors.
The role will be responsible for improving SHEQ performance through the improvement, and or, implementation of suitable SHEQ systems including ISO 9001:2015, ISO: 45001:2018, ISO14001:2015 and ISO 50001 Management Systems and other relevant standards and legislation. They will successfully design, deliver and maintain a SHEQ change programme to embed and drive a positive SHEQ culture across the organisation in addition to ensuring the timely delivery of associated underpinning SHEQ management action plans and operational programmes.
The role will oversee the consistent delivery of SHEQ training measures and identify, and pursue, significant issues.
Accountabilities:
- Act as the responsible person for all SHEQ matters across Sureserve Compliance Electrical and subsidiary business units
- Represent and lead Sureserve Electricals’ Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality compliance across the UK ensuring all SHEQ is communicated, implemented and adhered to
- Represent Sureserve Electrical as part of Group SHEQ Structure including collaborating with SMT to effectively manage issue resolution
- Partnering with Sureserve Group Head of Safety to promote Group Policy and maintain ISO9001 / 14001 / 45001 and 50001 Standards, and ensure rigorous risk assessment and incident management systems are in place for Sureserve Compliance Electrical
- Initiate and oversee a SHEQ leadership change programme across the organization
- Ensure Method Statements, Risk Assessments and CoSHH Assessments are produced for all business activities
- Set the strategic direction for effective SHEQ leadership and appropriate workplace wellbeing programmes, including mental health first aid, for all Sureserve Electrical employees
- Lead Accident and Incident investigations (root cause analysis)
- Proactive engagement with leadership and other key employees to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement in the management of SHEQ within their areas of responsibility promoting their own health, safety, environmental and quality competence
- Preparation and communication of both internal and Group SHEQ Board reports Including delivery of all key SHEQ monitoring statistics to the SMT
- Effective legal, compliance and audit management including audit cadence, process, reporting and completion and the establishment of compliance systems, processes, procedures, ISO standards, Government legislation and industry laws
- Act as lead with the Company / Group Insurance to effectively manage any personal injury and property damage claims including issue escalation to SMT and the insurers, collating any internal or insurance required documentation, and leading enhanced accident / incident reporting
- Represent and lead liaisons with all Regulatory and Local Authority bodies to promote good working relations with public bodies such as the HSE, Environment Agency, SEPA
- Representing the company with the Regulatory bodies and Local Authorities, managing any investigations including the supply of documentation, interviews, site meetings to prepare appropriate reporting for MD approval
- Maintain accreditations to CHAS, Constructionline and other professional bodies
- Achievement of external verified awards for SHEQ – including but not limited to, ROSPA and Business Safety Council awards
- Training matrix responsibility, ensuring that Management and Staff are made aware of expiring qualifications and providing appropriate scheduling support and the development and communication of SHEQ Toolbox Talk to the workforce
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience in the implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001:2015, ISO: 45001:2018, ISO14001:2015 and ISO 50001 Management Systems
- Minimum NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and Graduate IOSH Status
- Experience within industry sectors required to perform the roles of Principal Contractor, Principal Designer and Contractor as part of Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015 (CDM2015) and Building Safety Act 2022
- Environmental and Quality Management Qualifications
- Full UK driving licence would be essential for regular, national travel
