Head of HR
The Sureserve Group of businesses provides market-leading compliance and energy services across the UK, with over 3,200 employees working from over 20 offices.
Sureserve Compliance South, part of the Sureserve Group, delivers heating services within the social housing sector across London & the South East. We support our clients across domestic gas, commercial gas, renewables, and electrical services. We are London’s largest, and most successful gas contractor, focusing on long-term contracts with our clients to offer our staff job security and progression opportunities.
We are seeking a Head of HR to join our growing business in London & the South East. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of HR at Sureserve Compliance South, including retention, workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee relations, performance and development, engagement, and organisational change.
Role
- Lead and develop the Compliance South people plan to ensure it reflects both operational needs and Group-wide people strategy and HR priorities
- Act as a trusted strategic partner to the Managing Director and leadership team, providing insight and challenge across all people-related areas
- Lead, coach, and develop the local HR team, fostering a high-performance, service-focused culture
- Drive workforce planning, talent development, and succession planning to ensure the business has the right capability now and in the future
- Lead employee engagement and culture programmes to support performance, inclusion, and wellbeing
- Oversee recruitment and resourcing, ensuring attraction, selection, and onboarding processes are efficient, inclusive, and brand aligned
- Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations cases and ensure policy complianceDeliver HR support for organisational change, including restructures, TUPE, and operational integration of acquisitions
- Ensure all people data is accurate and used to support decision-making and measure impact, including regular reporting to the MD and Group HR Director
- Contribute to the wider Group HR Leadership team and the development of organisation-wide initiatives
The successful candidate will have
- Proven HR leadership experience in a divisional or business unit setting
- Strong business acumen and ability to align people strategy with operational goals
- Significant experience in managing complex ER cases and supporting change
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop an HR team
- Experience working in operationally intensive, multi-site environments
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and build trust across all levels
- Demonstrable experience in delivering high-impact people initiatives in a fast-paced, operational environment

Desirable experience includes
- Experience in construction, engineering, energy services, or similar sectors
- Experience in unionised environments or with collective agreements
- Experience working in private equity or scaling environments
- Familiarity with HR systems and data analytics
- CIPD qualification or relevant post-graduate HR qualification
